The KG Creative Project Event is an extremely popular event. It allows the student to focus on their more creative side and is perfect for those students who play other instruments or have a keen interest in a particular aspect of music or performing arts.
Students create projects about a music subject which may be displayed or performed. The display format is similar to a science fair, with each student explaining and demonstrating their project to the judges. Creative Project Performance format could be an original composition, a skit, a play, a narration, etc. that is performed for the judges.
The sky's the limit on this one, but we have included a list of topics to get your creative motors running. You may also view photos of previous Creative Project events by clicking here:
Tables will be supplied for Creative Project displays. Students are responsible for other props (i.e. easels, video equipment, extensions cords, table cloths, etc.) Table space per student is approximately 3 ft by 2.5 ft. Table cloths are recommended for a polished presentation, but are not required. Students are judged on the quality of their project. They should be able to explain the concept they are presenting convincingly. Judges will be looking for understanding of the concept as well as what the student has learned from creating and presenting this project.
Performances should be polished and displays should be well-organized and legible, with no misspelled words. Students should pronounce all names and places correctly. Work on projects must be done by the student.
Students presenting compositions must turn in a copy of the composition and a recorded performance for the judge by the designated deadline.
Teachers will receive their student critiques after the Event day and are responsible for their distribution. Students who are nominated for Outstanding Creative Projects will receive their special awards at the Keyboard Gymnastics Awards Ceremony in May.
