The KG Technic Event is an ongoing event – meaning that when a student is
ready to pass off a technic level, they will be instructed to call an official
tester and make an appointment to pass off their technic.
Lists of requirements for each level are found in the teacher manual to determine the appropriate level to place students.
More than one level may be passed in a year but students cannot repeat levels if they have received a passing score of 7.0 or higher.
Teachers are required to indicate any specific tempo or fingering assignments that vary or exceed the minimum requirements designated in the Keyboard Gymnastics™ Teacher Manual.
Upon completion, the tester is to make a copy of the Technic Critique Sheet. The student leaves the testing site with the original comment sheet and the copy is sent to the coordinator. All Technic testing must be completed by the designated deadline in May.
For greater effectiveness, teachers should attend a KG Technic & Sight Reading Training session prior to participating in these events. If you were unable to make the sessions offered in August and September, please About Us for additional information.
Although not required, many teachers and students find it helpful to use the TCW Technic Gymnastics Charts, which may be purchased by clicking here.
